Youth Conference 2009

I went to youth conference this past weekend. It was one of the most spirtual and uplifting times of my life. Before I went I kinda was just dwindling farther and farther away. I had no ambition to go to church or even read my scriptures anymore. There was a reason why I didnt want to go to church and let someone control that decision. ((Everyone probably knows who that person is)) I was in a spiritual drought. I knew that I was drifting...but i didnt know how to get myself back. I went with a prayer in my heart and the willingness to find myself again. We had an EFY speaker come up and this is what truely changed my life. He made us look in a mirror for 1 minute. It was harder than you think it would be. At first I wondered what the purpose of this was going to be. But after ten seconds of looking at myself my eyes started tearing up...and I knew what that purpose was. Afterwards he told us to write down what we thought... here's what I wrote... "Who am I anymore? I cant even look into myself..I dont know who I am! I am tired of not having the light of christ in my eyes. I need to find myself again"
The next day came and we went through our activities. One of the last activities we had was a stake testimony meeting. I knew that this was going to be a very emotional time for me. And like I thought, it was. All of the youth leaders were asked to get up and bear their testimony. Well I was the first one to get up. I wasnt scared at all, and that's not like me. I dont remember alot about what I said, but I felt the spirit SO strong. I knew that I had found Katie again. I'm not letter her go this time. After the meeting my friend Kenny came up to me and he told me that no one has ever been able to bring tears to his eyes...but he said I touched his heart and he will never forget the spirit that i brought to the meeting. That strengthened me even more. That's the type of person I want to become to everybody, someone that people look at and love to be around me because of the spirit that I have. That will be my last youth conference! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to plan it and be involved with it. It was the best experience I have ever had. I would like to leave with a quote...a quote that I believe is very true! "Strengthen your testimony, and your testimony will strengthen you"!!!
